Huddersfield 1 Man City 2: Raheem Sterling nets late winner

OF all the teams to frustrate City, it was Huddersfield who delivered a defensive masterclass.
And it needed a lucky late goal from Raheem Sterling to secure an 11th successive Premier League win. It was his sixth goal in nine games and 12th in total.
The Huddersfield fans could barely believe it after they took the lead against the run of play
There were ugly scenes at the end of the game, as Town's Rajiv van La Parra was shown a straight red card after an ugly clash with City's Leroy Sane. City had not come from behind at half-time to win away from home in the Premier League since April 1995 and remarkably, that dodgy stat has finally been put to bed. A draw looked certain until Gabriel Jesus' shot was saved by keeper Jonas Lossl and it hit Sterling and rebounded into the net.
It was so, so fortunate. Huddersfield had taken the lead when Nicolas Otamendi deflected a flick from Chrstopher Schindler into the net and Sergio Aguero levelled from penalty spot after Raheem Sterling was fouled seconds after the restart. There was not too much happen in the first half until stoppage time. Leroy Sane sent a cross flashing across the area, it was too far for Sergio Aguero to poke into the net.
Aguero then looked certain to score despite taking a heavy touch but was denied by a brilliant tackle from Schindler. It took City until the 38th minute to have a shot no target but Aguero’s effort was parried by Jonas Lossle and Sterling should have done better with the rebound.
Huddersfield defended well and then stunned City in first half stoppage time. Vincent Kompany was lucky when he headed Tom Ince’s corner over his own bar and the fourth official displayed there would be one extra minute.
Ince delivered the set-piece again, Schindler lost marker Kevin De Bruyne and got in front of Fernandinho. He flicked the ball on an it came off Otamendi’s chest and into the net. It was a terrific end to the first half but the second half could not have started any worse for Huddersfield. Sterling appealed for a penalty after just 20 seconds and then got one after 51 seconds as he tangled Malone.
The Huddersfield defender cannot complain as he had both arms around with the England winger and Aguero sent Lossl the wrong way. Between the two goals, there was one minute and 57 seconds of playing time.
Fernandinho was rightly booked for an embarrassing dive while Huddersfield held on.
But late on, Sterling then started and finished a move, not that he knew much about it.
